Mothers’ Day on 14th May, Sunday, is coming up! :) If you have not planned where to bring your mother out and want to treat her to something simple and delicious, this is the post you need to read!

For a nice mother-child-date, to show your appreciation and love for this amazing woman, you might want to consider bringing your mother out for high tea at Foster’s at Holland Village <3

Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just one step into Foster’s and you can sense it’s exotic aura. A knight’s armour stands at the entrance, further in and you’ll see a beautiful painting of its trademarked rose. The place is dimly lit with an orange glow, giving it a warm and cosy atmosphere. What was interesting is that it also feels slightly mysterious and dark. There was display of wines at the counter (we didn’t have any of course) and little candle lights set atop the table, giving an incredibly classy and laid-back vibe.

The first thing that caught our eye at the table were their menus. Designed to look like an olden day newsletter titled “The Foster’s Times”, it displayed an article on steak and high tea, and unfolded to then reveal the actual menu. The unique style is prevalent throughout the steakhouse, distinguishing it from any ordinary food place. You pay for not just the food but for the experience and it’s atmosphere, and the service of the friendly staff too, hence do take note of the 10% service charge and 7% GST! Despite the service charges and GST, we do feel that it is worth it, as their service staff are friendly and helpful.

FOOD: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We ordered the Afternoon-Tea set, Devonshire Cream Tea which is available from 3pm-5pm daily. Included in the set is a choice of coffee or tea. We ordered the Dilmah Earl Grey tea, which came with milk. On its own, it does not have a very strong taste, and the ‘tea-taste’ is not too overpowering, perfect to be enjoyed with the sweet treats serve on the side.

On the plate are 3 little ramekins on the side containing fresh cream, homemade strawberry preserve, and butter, each for a different dish in the set. (Shao Nan thought that the butter was cheese and ate a huge chunk of it! Oh no...)

The 2 scones, served fresh and warm. There was a perfect balance of crispiness and moist goodness. There is a sweet glaze, yet with a tinge of salt for flavour. We’d recommend to have the scone with some cream or jam which compliments the sweetness nicely. The marble cake is moist and flavourful. Last but not the least, the 2 sandwiches, each with a slice of white bread and whole grain bread. One has a slice of tomato inside, while the other has salmon fillings. Personally, we loved the salmon and could not get enough of it. The salmon is reaaaaaally good LIKE LEGIT Y’ALL IT’S VVVVV GOOD

Foster’s is a western restaurant. Be it steak, poultry or seafood, you want it, they have it ! When you read their menu, you will be spoilt for choices.
